Last year on March 3rd we celebrated the 25th World Book Day, a day in which people all over the world would come together and celebrate the joy of reading as well as the power of books. World Book Day is celebrated in over 100 countries worldwide and provides an opportunity for readers of all ages to come together to share their love of books.
World book day encourages the sharing of books as well as the promotion of reading. The day is participated by many schools, libraries and book shops. They host events such as book readings, book sales and giveaways. Also there are many schools which encourage children to dress up as their favourite book character in order to promote the love of reading.
Recently there has been a trend towards encouraging the reading of diverse and underrepresented groups which includes the promotion of books by authors from a different cultural background, and to try and include books which feature characters with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community. This is done with the aim of creating inclusivity and representation.
Some of the most popular costumes for World Book Day include the characters from the Harry Potter series of books, as well as the Roald Dahl books including Matilda and Willy Wonka. Characters from the Chronicles of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan have also proven to be very popular.
To celebrate World Book Day 2022 we at Cazaar created a competition for our customers to win a refund on their purchase of Book character costumes. So we included the Cazaar “Golden Ticket” in a number of our packages, the ticket holders just had to dress up in their costume and take a picture of them holding their ticket and tag us on any social media platform in order to win. Below are just some of the lucky entrants who won a 100% refund.
