The infamous Bloody Mary was born in the 1920's, by a French bartender called Fernand Petiot was working in Harry's New York Bar in Paris, where he mixed up vodka and tomato juice which he referred to as the 'Bucket of Blood'.  This basic cocktail then began its evolution, with the addition of hot sauce, lemon juice, salt and pepper, and over time became known as the Bloody Mary.  Interestingly, this same bar also claims to have invented the classic Sidecar and White Russian!

This versatile drink comes in many forms - from the Red Snapper which uses gin, the Bloody Maria which uses tequila, the Bloody Fairy which uses Absinthe, and even the Virgin Mary which is alcohol free.
