WHAT IS THIS?
THIS IS THE CARD GAME THAT MADE KICKSTARTER HISTORY.
Created by Elan Lee (Xbox, ARGs), Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal), and Shane Small (Xbox, Marvel), Exploding Kittens made history when it became the most-backed game in Kickstarter history and the campaign with the most number of backers, ever.
It is a highly-strategic, kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players draw cards until someone draws an Exploding Kitten, at which point they explode, they are dead, and they are out of the game unless that player has a Defuse card, which can defuse the kitten using things like laser pointers, belly rubs, and catnip sandwiches. All of the other cards in the deck are used to move, mitigate, or avoid the Exploding Kittens. Watch the short video below to see how the game works.
A fun game and, once you get the hang of it, sneaky strategies come into play as if you have Defused and Exploding Kittens card you get to place it back in the park (whilst the rest of the players look away), decide who you would like to blow up next, or try to prevent yourself from being blown up by using See The Future Cards or Shuffle Cards.
Tried and tested in the Giddy Goat household and a big hit with our two boys aged 10 and 14, and husband aged 48.
For ages 7 - adults, 2-5 players. Average game time 15 mins.
